Rep. Armando Walle Highlights Transformational Child Care Funding in House Supplemental Appropriations Bill

(Austin, TEXAS) –  Today, the House Appropriations Committee voted out the committee substitute for the House Supplemental Appropriations Bill (C.S.H.B. 500).

Among other key investments, C.S.H.B. 500 includes $100 million for the Texas Workforce Commission to support the state’s child care scholarship program for families.

Rep. Armando Walle, who serves as the subcommittee chair of Articles VI, VII & VIII, released the following statement:

“I am thankful to Dr. Bonnen and Speaker Burrows for working together with me and a coalition of providers and advocacy organizations to find a way to make a transformational investment in the state’s child care scholarship program to get more families off of the waitlist. I look forward to working with the Senate to protect this funding, and I feel confident we will get this win for Texas families across the finish line.”
